Commercial Drive has a number of run-of-the-mill sushi restaurants, too many, in my opinion. Now it seems something called Wakaba is opening up in the Il Mercato mall at 1st and Commercial. Normally I wouldn’t get too excited, but the owner appears to be Japanese, based on the paperwork tacked outside, and the same mall’s Lombardo’s restaurant somehow manages to make you forget where it’s located. Looking forward to seeing what Wakaba turns out to be.
